Eufy Dual Doorbell Review: Is It Worth It?

A missed parcel is annoying. A doorbell camera that records only the visitor’s face but misses the package left at their feet is more frustrating still. This eufy dual doorbell review looks at whether the Eufy Video Doorbell Dual, commonly known as the S330, solves that everyday blind spot well enough to justify its higher price.

For households that receive regular deliveries, have a busy front door or simply want a clearer view of what happens at the entrance, it is one of the more practical video doorbell designs available. Its appeal is not just the extra camera. It is the combination of parcel coverage, local video storage and no required monthly subscription.

What makes the Eufy Dual Doorbell different?

Most video doorbells use one forward-facing camera. That gives a useful view of a caller, but the area directly beneath the doorbell can be hidden by the angle of the lens. The Eufy Dual Doorbell uses two cameras: a main 2K camera for people approaching the door and a lower-resolution downward-facing camera aimed at parcels.

That second view is the reason to consider this model. It can show whether a delivery has actually been left, whether it is still there later, and whether somebody has picked it up. For homes with a step, porch or regular courier traffic, that is more useful than an extremely wide single-camera image which still leaves a gap at ground level.

The system also uses motion detection designed to distinguish people and parcels more effectively than a basic motion alert. In real use, that can mean fewer irrelevant notifications than a camera that reacts to every passing car, moving branch or neighbour walking along the pavement. It is not perfect - no motion system is - but the combination of radar and PIR sensing gives it a better starting point than many battery doorbells.

Eufy Dual Doorbell review: video, alerts and storage

The main camera produces 2K footage, which is detailed enough to identify a caller in normal daylight and gives a sensible view of the approach to the door. The parcel camera is lower resolution, but its job is to confirm what is on the doorstep rather than capture a distant face. This is a sensible balance, as it keeps the focus on the two views that matter.

Night performance is generally good around a typical entrance, particularly where there is some existing outdoor lighting. Faces and parcel movements remain visible, although any doorbell camera will work best when visitors are not standing in complete darkness. If your doorway is very exposed or unlit, adding a suitable light can improve results more than changing camera model.

Notifications can be configured through the Eufy app, including activity zones and detection preferences. Spending a few minutes setting these up is worthwhile. A front door facing a road, shared path or busy estate can otherwise generate more alerts than most people want. Narrow the active area to your gate, path and doorstep, then test it over a few days before deciding the alerts are too sensitive.

A major selling point is local storage. The Doorbell Dual is supplied with a HomeBase 3 hub, which stores recordings locally rather than making a paid cloud plan essential. For buyers who dislike adding another subscription to their monthly bills, this is a strong reason to choose it. HomeBase 3 also supports expandable storage, so the system can grow if you later add compatible Eufy cameras around the home.

Local storage does create one practical consideration. The hub needs to be placed indoors, connected to your network and within a sensible range of the doorbell. A large stone house, a long hallway or a detached front gate can affect wireless performance. This is especially relevant in older properties, where thick walls can reduce signal more than expected.

Battery or wired installation?

The Eufy Video Doorbell Dual gives you flexibility. It can be installed on battery power or connected to suitable existing doorbell wiring. Battery installation is the easier route for many homes and rentals because there is no need to work with existing cabling. It also makes placement more flexible if the original doorbell position is poorly suited to camera coverage.

The trade-off is charging. Battery life depends heavily on activity, cold weather, live viewing and how often motion events are recorded. A quiet entrance can go for months between charges, while a busy driveway or home facing a public footpath may need attention sooner. Treat headline battery estimates as best-case guidance rather than a guarantee.

Wired power is the better option where compatible low-voltage doorbell wiring already exists and you want less maintenance. It does not remove the need to check installation requirements, but it can make the doorbell a more fit-and-forget part of the home security setup. If you are unsure about the wiring at your property, get advice before connecting any smart doorbell rather than assuming every existing chime circuit is suitable.

In either setup, consider the mounting position carefully. The best place is usually around chest height, angled slightly towards the approach, with the lower camera still able to see the doorstep. A supplied wedge can help where the doorbell is mounted beside a wall or where a caller approaches from one side.

Where it works particularly well

This is a doorbell made for a family home where packages are left outside, parents want to see who has called, or the front entrance is the main security concern. It is also a good fit for a small business entrance where staff are not always within earshot of the door.

For rural homes, the value depends more on connectivity than location. The dual-camera design is useful whether you are in town or on a country lane, but the setup needs dependable broadband and a stable WiFi signal between the hub and door. If your router is at the far end of the house and the signal is weak at the porch, a mesh WiFi system or better hub placement may be needed before any wireless doorbell performs reliably.

Renters may appreciate the battery option, provided they have permission to mount the unit. Homeowners with a sheltered porch and existing wiring may get the most convenient long-term experience from a wired installation.

The trade-offs to consider before buying

The Eufy Dual Doorbell is not the cheapest way to add a camera to your entrance. If you only want to know that someone has pressed the bell, a simpler single-camera model may be enough. You are paying for the parcel view, dual detection system and HomeBase storage approach.

It is also physically larger than many basic doorbells. That is understandable given the two cameras and battery design, but it may look more prominent on a narrow door frame. Check the available mounting space before ordering, particularly on older doors with decorative glass, shallow frames or an awkwardly placed existing bell push.

The HomeBase 3 is valuable, but it is another piece of equipment to accommodate. It needs power and a network connection, and it is best kept somewhere central rather than hidden in a distant cupboard. For some buyers, an all-in-one cloud-connected doorbell may feel simpler. For others, having recordings under their own roof is exactly the point.

There is also the usual privacy consideration. Aim the camera at your own entrance and keep activity zones tight where possible. A doorbell camera should protect your property, not become a constant view of a neighbour’s garden or the public street.

Is the Eufy Video Doorbell Dual worth buying?

For the right household, yes. The Eufy Video Doorbell Dual is most convincing when parcel monitoring is a genuine need rather than a novelty. The lower camera fills a real gap in standard doorbell coverage, while local storage helps avoid the feeling that basic home security is tied to an ongoing subscription.

It is less compelling if your doorstep is rarely used for deliveries, your WiFi is unreliable at the front of the house, or you want the smallest and cheapest possible doorbell. In those cases, a conventional video doorbell may be the more sensible purchase.

Before choosing any smart doorbell, stand at your own front door and picture the view you need: the caller, the gate, the doorstep, or all three. That simple check usually makes the right option clearer than comparing specifications alone.
